Role Overview
The Global Director of Operations is the chief operational leader of a growing,
multi-campus church operating as one centralized organization with multiple
physical locations and a strong virtual presence.
This role exists to translate vision into executable and scalable systems,
ensuring operational excellence, organizational alignment, financial discipline
(in coordination with Finance & Compliance), and scalable infrastructure across
all campuses.
This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for governance, systems,
people, and performance.
The ideal candidate combines organizational leadership, operational
intelligence, emotional maturity, and spiritual depth, with the capacity to
steward growth without chaos.
Core Mandate
Build and sustain the operational infrastructure required for a fast
growing, multi-site church to scale with excellence, accountability, and
unity.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Operations & Systems
- Design, implement, and oversee centralized operational systems across all campuses
- Develop SOPs, workflows, and execution rhythms that ensure consistency and excellence
- Ensure alignment between vision, strategy, and day-to-day execution
- Eliminate bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and dependency on personality-driven processes
Multi-Campus Leadership & Alignment
- Provide operational oversight and support to campus leadership teams
- Ensure each campus operates within centralized standards while honoring local execution
- Facilitate communication and alignment between campuses and central leadership
- Monitor campus performance, capacity, and operational health
People & Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop central operations staff and key leaders
- Establish clear roles, expectations, accountability structures, and performance metrics
- Support the transition from volunteer-only staffing to a hybrid volunteer/staffed model
- Address leadership gaps, role confusion, and execution drift decisively
Strategic Execution & Governance
- Translate senior leadership vision into executable initiatives with timelines and ownership
- Track execution progress and ensure follow-through across departments and campuses
- Surface risks, capacity constraints, and structural issues before they become crises
- Serve as a key advisor to the Senior Leader & CEO on organizational readiness and growth pacing
Authority & Reporting Structure
- Reports directly to the Senior Leader
- Has authority to enforce standards, systems, and accountability across the organization
- Operates with delegated executive authority to make operational decisions
- Oversees centralized operations and campus execution leaders
This role requires confidence, discretion, and the ability to lead without ego or
insecurity.
Scope Boundaries (Role Exclusions)
To preserve clarity and effectiveness, this role does not primarily own:
- Preaching or teaching assignments (unless explicitly assigned)
- Pastoral counseling or congregational care
- Fundraising or donor cultivation
- Financial accounting or compliance execution (partners with
Finance)
This is an operations and execution role, not a ceremonial or symbolic
title.
Required Competencies
- Proven operational leadership in complex, multi-site environments
- Strong organizational design and systems thinking
- High emotional intelligence and conflict navigation skills
- Ability to lead both staff and volunteers with clarity and authority
- Exceptional follow-through and execution discipline
- Comfort working directly with senior executive leadership
Qualifications & Experience
- 7–10+ years of leadership experience in church, nonprofit, or
- complex organizational settings preferred
- Demonstrated success scaling systems, teams, and operations
- Experience leading multi-site or multi-department organizations strongly preferred
- Background in executive operations, COO-type roles, or senior ministry administration preferred
- Formal education in leadership, management, theology, or related fields preferred
